Here at Orelia head office we’ve all been obsessively watching this years’ Great British Bake Off’. It has been a hot topic of discussion, especially after spotting Mel Giedroyc wearing our Orelia beaded hoop earrings!
So in the spirit of the show we decided to hold our own Orelia Bake Off for the children’s charity ‘Wallace and Gromit Foundation’
The competition was fierce with mouth-watering entries from all the team including mini quiches, cupcakes, muffins, tiffins and bread rolls.
After the Orelia team stuffed their faces (it was only fair to make sure we tried each and every entry) the vote was cast and our multi talented Mark from the DC team was declared ‘Star Baker’ for his brilliant efforts of Chelsea Buns, loaf AND a Ginger Cake!!
We also opened up the voting to our facebook fans who nominated our Assistant Buyer, Daisy, as the winner for her beautifully presented ‘Rose Petal tiffins’ individually wrapped and tied with a bow (they tasted just as good as they looked!). Here is her recipe:
For the base-
Take 1 big bar of chocolate, 1/3 packet of biscuits, ½ a stick of butter, a big bag of matlesers melt and mix all together and then press down into a lined baking tray
For the topping-
Take 1 big bar of chocolate, 2 x mars bars and 1/3 of a stick of butter, melt together
Pour over base and scatter with rose petals
Leave in fridge for a long while
To thank our facebook fans for taking part we picked a voter at random to win one of our new AW13 Orelia Scarves, Lesley Evans your new scarf is on its way to you!
There was far too many cakes for the Orelia team to get through so we set up a cake stall in reception and invited the neighbouring businesses to stop by, after selling out we raised £200 in total for the Wallace and Gromit Foundation.
The charity supports sick children in hospitals and hospices throughout the UK by providing comfort, state of the art equipment, family facilities and entertainment such as art , music and play therapy
