Brighton Beach Clean
At Orelia, we’re lucky to call Brighton our home - and there’s nothing quite like the sound of the waves, the salty sea air, and that endless horizon. To celebrate National Beach Day, on the 30th August, we wanted to do something meaningful to honour the place that inspires us daily. So, earlier this summer, our team rolled up their sleeves, grabbed some litter pickers, and headed down to Brighton Beach for a community clean-up.

Why We Did It
Being based in Brighton means we see firsthand how important it is to protect our coastline. Beaches aren’t just beautiful - they’re vital habitats for wildlife, a space for locals and visitors to relax, and a source of inspiration for our designs. Sadly, they also bear the brunt of pollution and waste. Taking part in a beach clean-up was our way of giving back to the community and helping to preserve the place we love.
The Day Itself
On a slightly blustery, less-than-sunny summer’s day, our team headed down to the pebbled shore armed with gloves, bags, and plenty of enthusiasm. From plastic bottles to the odd abandoned flip-flop, we collected all sorts of discarded items. By the end of the beach clean-up, we’d filled several bags with rubbish - waste that might otherwise have found its way into the ocean.
Sustainability At Our Core
This clean-up is just one small part of Orelia’s wider sustainability journey. From making conscious material choices to minimising packaging waste, we’re always working on ways to reduce our environmental impact. But actions speak louder than words, and we believe getting hands-on in our own community makes a real difference.
